This was an extremely interesting book. I really like books that incorporate history and real events that have happened, and I have never heard about eugenics before really, except for Nazi Germany. I certainly didn't think that it happened anywhere close to where I live. What really kept me reading though was the multiple point of views from so many characters that all ended u being connected somehow. I thought it was soo cool, and when I would feel that one person's story was beginning to be too long, the next paragraph would come and it would be a completely new point of view. I wasn't creeped out that much by all the ghosts in the story, except when they had to do with Lucy, because she made them seem so much creepier than it probably was. The only thing that was confusing was all of the subjects that this book talked made it hard to find the focal point of the story. Actually, I'm still not sure what it is hahaha. I really like Jodi Picoult's writing style and her storytelling, so I have a feeling that I'll be reading a lot more from her.

I picked this up at a used bookstore in Scottsdale a few weeks ago. I finally picked it up and started reading it. After the first 7 pages, I realized I've read it before. When? I have no idea. I remember the ending, but not the rest. Should I continue reading it? Hmmm....

This was not one of my favourite works of Jodi Picoult. Everything was really far-fetched, and also predictable. It didn't contain that level of realism that her other books usually have.

Another good Picoult book. I found this novel to be the same as all the others I've read, rather formulaic. However, I did like how Picoult changed her modus operandi and wrote about a subject many good authors tend to avoid- the supernatural. Enjoyable, if predictable.

I just finished this on Saturday (it's Tuesday now), and I can't even remember what it's about, without thinking really hard. It started out slowly, but got more interesting as I got further in. Another Picoult book, so there's lots of characters to keep track of, and lots of time periods to get straight. There's some interesting stuff about the eugenics movement in Vermont and the way it affected the characters. Lots about love, some stuff about parent-child relationships, and a good deal about ghosts.

It was pretty hard to keep the characters straight, which is really too bad when the actual relationships (she's her mother, he's her father, she's really that guy's granddaughter, etc.) are such an integral part of the story. It was worth reading, and it was enjoyable, but I wasn't quite satisfied in the end.

Week 33 of the 2018 Reading Challenge: A book connected to a word "born" in the same year as you. There is website (https://www.merriam-webster.com/time-traveler) that shows when a word first appears in print and the idea for this topic was to select one of those words from the year you were born. The word I chose was "Eugenics"

I had a really hard time getting into this book. It jumped around, there were too many characters and it was very confusing. Something finally clicked around page 130 and I couldn't put it down after that. The background includes an actual historical event - the Vermont Eugenics project - where they did forced sterilization on people that they didn't think should reproduce.

I had heard so many great things about Jodi Picoult, but after reading this book, I was rather dissapointed. The book was good, but it was a book that I felt like I was forcing myself to finish. I think some of the plot was unbelievable due to poor character development. If she had put more time into developing the charactersand their relationships, I think I would have really enjoyed this story.

In the end, it was just okay. I am still willing to try another book by Picoult because I did think she was a good writer.

I couldn't really get into this book. It had too much going on in it. There were a couple of different story lines to follow. One was about a guy who had almost died three times and became a paranormal surveyor. There was another line about a woman who had a husband who was one of the leaders of the eugenics movement back before WWII. She's mysterious killed and the evidence points to her husband as he had just found out that she is half native american.

I loved this book! One of the best I have read by Jodi Picoult. Great ghost story!
