I was a bit worried reading the beginning of this book, with lots of characters passing through the narrative. (Multiple POVs are not a favorite.) I should never have doubted Nora's ability to draw me in and make me invested in the story. Stayed up waaay too late finishing it and can't wait for the rest of the story.

So, since I read a lot I've decided to post about books. Nora Robert's is a best selling author that I have never felt the need to read before, mostly because she does contemporary romance books. After watching a review on booktube, I thought I'd give it a shot.
This book was a dystopian fantasy, with a good balance of character development and world building. It is low fantasy so it takes place in our world with a relatively simple magic system. But, boy does it keep you engaged. I finished the book in two days, which even for me is quick. I also liked that though love was a part of the story, it was in no way a romance.
This is the first book in the trilogy and I can't wait to read the rest. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, dystopian, adult story lines that are not romance, and the thrill of learning about a "new" world alongside the characters.

I feel like I've read this story before, but as Stephen King's The Stand remains on my DNF list (ashamedly at about 70%) maybe I haven't finished it yet. Perhaps these shorter books might get me through.
Entertaining read. Dystopian Doomsday future that combines a future world of The Walking Dead with Lord of The Rings. Looking forward to reading the sequels.

This was pretty good! It was a little hard to follow the different POVs initially but I liked how the different characters intersected!
I also didn't realize this was more of a post-apocalyptic story when I first picked it up so it took me a bit to get invested in the story, but I did about 25% in. It was interesting reading about a pandemic from a magical perspective. A lot of the themes in this book were pretty heavy - lots of death, grief, sickness, violence were persistent throughout.
I enjoyed that the characters were diverse in terms of multiple generations and different occupations that I don't typically read about. The way this story is being told there are still a bunch of (what I'm assuming are) intentional unknowns - I feel like there will be questions until the last book. Overall it was a solid 4 stars for me.
