I won an ARC of this book here on Goodreads.
The beginning started out so dark and creepy, SOMETHING was coming and coming fast. Definitly an interesting read. I enjoyed the zombie esque survival feel as well as the added elements of fantasy. It was really interesting to read.
The only part that bugged me a little was the writing style somewhat, I couldn't always tell who was talking or doing the actions. So i would get yanked out of the story trying to figure out who was doing or saying what.
But all in all a good story I enjoyed. :)

This was my first Nora Roberts read & it did not disappoint!! Wiches, faerie & an apocalypse all in one bundle of hope. And she normally writes romance??!
A new disease begins to spread. Suddenly there's a global pandemic.
Sound familiar?
Fortunately, it's fiction, but in present circumstances it's a terrifying yet reassuring reminder that things could be much, much worse. In the vein of the excellent [b:Station Eleven|20170404|Station Eleven|Emily St. John Mandel|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1451446835l/20170404._SY75_.jpg|28098716], this book explores the post-apocalyptic rebuilding of society after a disease wipes out a huge portion of humanity.
One of the best compliments I can give this book is that the imagery was so vivid I kept half-thinking the story was a show I was watching on television. Crazy readable; I barely put it down til I was done.

Got me hooked and I couldn't wait to get the others in the series and discover this world.
I enjoyed this one. I already like Nora Roberts’ writing style. I find her easy to read without being too simple or immature, and I have previously enjoyed many of her romance novels. I wasn’t sure what I would be getting when I decided to try out this fantasy novel, but I’m really pleased that I read it. The extent of the devastation of the Doom came as a surprise to me and intrigued me, because really where can you go after killing so many people? I grew to like the characters quickly and I’m curious about what will happen to them in the series from here on out. I’ll definitely be seeking out the rest of the series.
