Loved the concept and the story, but the writing was difficult to get through. I decided to listen to the audiobook in order to thoroughly listen and absorb the story, but even then the repetitive phrases and dialect were more difficult than I was expecting.

Unironically the most boring, unnecessarily verbose shit I've ever read. Would have been interesting if Hawthorne's style was bearable, but as it is, DNF'd after three or four unbelievable drags of a chapter. Currently pondering how to gently express to my AngloAmerican Lit professor the concept of 'if this book has no haters, I'm dead'.
