I really enjoyed this book, it has twists, betrayal, and lots of different relationships interlinked along with Morgan trying to protect her daughter even if it’s at the expenses of their relationship. I liked that the story was told from two different perspectives and generations, mother and daughter. I wouldn’t have been able to rip the letters up without reading them, I feel like there is perhaps a few loose ends left when the book finished for me because of this. But I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to seeing the film.

Ummmm yessssss!!!! This book was AMAZING. Please read it! Such a beautiful story. Loved all the characters. :) Flew through it because i was so encapsulated

predictable

Characters were meh, story was meh. Predicted the whole book by Chapter 3. But if you like Colleen Hoover books, you'll probably like this book.

As a longtime Colleen Hoover fan, I always look forward to diving into her stories because I know I’ll be pulled into the emotional rollercoaster she crafts so well. Regretting You had all the elements I expect from CoHo: raw emotions, complicated relationships, and characters I can’t help but root for, even when they frustrate me. What stood out most to me, and what I always admire about her writing, is the way she captures teenagers. Clara’s voice felt so authentic. Her attitude, her stubbornness, her grief, and even her moments of rebellion all rang true. Ms. Hoover has a gift for writing teens in a way that feels real, not forced, and that alone kept me turning the pages. That said, this book didn’t quite land at the same level as some of her other works for me. The alternating perspectives between Morgan and Clara were interesting, but the pacing sometimes dragged. I found myself more invested in Clara’s chapters than Morgan’s, and while the mother-daughter tension was believable, it also became repetitive at times. There were stretches where I was frustrated more than moved, and that affected my overall enjoyment. Still, there’s no denying the emotional weight of this story. The exploration of grief, how it can fracture families, how secrets can create wedges, and how forgiveness is never as simple as we’d like is powerful. I also loved how Ms. Hoover wove in the theme of first love through Clara and Miller’s storyline, giving a tender balance to the heaviness of the mother-daughter conflict. In the end, Regretting You wasn’t my favorite CoHo book, but it’s a testament to her talent that even when a story doesn’t fully hit the mark for me, I still walk away with memorable characters and plenty to think about. It’s a solid, heartfelt read that might resonate more deeply with readers who connect with the family-drama side of her writing. I give it 3.5 movie cameras: 🎥🎥🎥.5
