This is such a fun one to read with kids. It has whimsical characters and a good storyline. If you give a moose a muffin, he'll want this... And, if you give a moose this, he'll want that. Just something really good to read to kids. Also, something really fun for adults to read!

These books are always some of my favorite!

I found someone on Goodreads reading this and thought to borrow a copy from the library. I borrowed Laura Numeroff’s If You Give a Mouse a Cookie too which I think was published in 1985. This one follows the same story cycle too. I just thought the other book was more adorable.

Reading children’s books makes the big kid in me happy 😄

Personally I think other books in this series are cuter, but this one is still okay.

Read to Sam.

If You Give a Moose a Muffin is the second in the If You Give a... series. Here it's a moose wanting a muffin. The moose shows up in later books such as If You Give a Pig a Party.

Like the others in the series the book uses circular reasoning. It starts with the absurd notion of giving a moose a muffin (inside a house, no less) and ends up there. In between there is messy jam, puppet shows, borrowed sweaters and a host of other silly things.

My kids adore this series although I think my oldest is starting to out grow it. I expect though I have a few more years of reading them with Harriet who loves all the different animals. Her two favorites are the cat and the moose. My son's two favorites were the pig and the mouse. So that's pretty much everyone covered.

Cute stuff.

The moose is my favorite animal, so I had to buy my toddler this book. It's cute and funny, and it has the perfect amount of words per page for a child who is just starting picture books.

One of my childhood favorites. Lovely story, great artwork. Not sure why, but I always preferred this one to If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, and the other If You Give a XX a XX iterations. Perhaps it's the lovely autumnal vibes.
