Fascinating, funny and well written look inside a vet practice. Great for pet owners- or anyone else who loves animals.

I've read a lot of vet books, and other animal books.
The top 3 IMO were:
Herriot, Durrell and now (because I just found him) Schott.

I have his other 2 on order and Preorder.
I was reading bits out aloud to family as I went, always a sign of a good book.

Well written and of course more up to date than the Herriot ones. If I was there I'd choose him for my pets doctor too.

Well worth buying.

In addition to being a practicing veterinarian in Manitoba, Philipp Schott is a decent writer. He remembers his intended audience and keeps the focus sharp. This book is pretty well structured, too, especially considering it was adapted from his blog. And entertaining.

Real talk about life as a veterinarian. Lots of humor and awwws. But also discussions about serious topics like the stresses of the profession and what to consider when you hear the dreaded diagnosis of cancer for your pet. He reminds us that our cats and dogs live very much in the moment, not worrying about their tomorrows.

Recommended for anyone who is curious about the day-to-day details of the veterinary profession.

I like to read about vet life and I liked this book.
It was well written, full of stories and details.
A very good book that was both engaging and entertaining.
Recommended!

Philip Schott’s slight book, The Accidental Veterinarian, is a collection of posts from his blog, Vetography. The posts are alternately biographical, advice about pets, and stories about clients and their pets (the best parts). I suspect that long time readers of Dr. Schott’s blog won’t find much new here. For readers who haven’t heard of or read the blog, The Accidental Veterinarian is a fun jaunt through the life of a vet...

Read the rest of my review at A Bookish Type. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley, for review consideration.
