I'd give this 3.5 stars but am rounding up to 4 because it did manage to pull me in towards the end. I found it really slow moving at first and I had a hard time connecting with the main character even though I really wanted to love her and relate to her. Sometimes I don't mind books starting off slow, but given that this was a YA fiction read, I expected it to pull me a lot sooner. I started enjoying the book a little over halfway through, but only because I could relate her falling in love with the city of the London in a similar way to how I fell in love with a city in Europe when I studied abroad. If it wasn't for that small connection, I'm not sure I would've enjoyed it as much as I did. Even so, the plot seemed tepid at best.

This was cute. There was a lot of baking talk and baking similes but they worked. I liked all the references to culture and hearing the author explain the personal connection at the end was interesting. Made me tear up several times.
