"Thing is, when you put something back together, it's never exactly the same as it was before."

Lila and the friendships she made were easily the highlight of the book. Every moment she had with Flora was lovely to read. The way she saw herself in Flora and saw that she needed someone to be there for her and be a safe place brought me to tears at times.

The romance itself was a bit lacklustre. I didn't get too invested in Lila and Orion, their moments were cute but I didn't feel attached to them as a couple.

The last ten or so pages did make me cry though. The culmination of Lila's emotional growth throughout the book was an amazing way to end the book.

If you pick it up, I recommend having a snack on hand because the descriptions of food in this book are so detailed.

DNF at 35%. I’m real picky with romance, and this was a more of it’s me and not the book haha. The teen romance and characters just weren’t clicking for me enough to hold my attention and I’d rather move onto other books. I’ve also read a lot of books recently over teenage grief and that could be a part of why the storyline felt stifling.

This book had no right, absolutely no right, to tear my heart apart and then build it back up again full to bursting. It is just so incredibly sweet (unlike Lila’s baking!) and beautiful and heartwarming.

My complaint is that Stephanie's going to Africa rather than saying the country within Africa that she is going to. Like it mentions Africa way more than the country that she goes to work in. Which is Ghana by the way. Africa is not all the same. There are different cultures and people and ways of living and just saying Africa shouldn't be okay.

But apart from that  i enjoyed the rest about it
