I actually liked this book better than the first one. Sanderson still takes an awfully long time to get anywhere with his story, his characters feel like a list of attributes and quirks rather than actual people, the internal monologue is often repetitive and he simply cannot write romance. But what saves these books are the reveals. I couldnā€˜t put it down because I wanted to see how things came together in the end. So overall, I enjoyed it, despite the flaws in the writing.

I would've given 4 if the last chapter hadn't felt too normal for me. Until that I spent my time contemplating the events and devising strategies but the last chapter didn't make me want to immediately start the next book.

Maybe the epilogue made it sound a bit dumb. They went on about their lives and there was no new monster known. I would've expected the changes to be drastic and immediate.

But in the whole, the book got me hooked.

I didn't expect Vin to end up with Elend even though I liked his character.

I definitely need Zane's story. And want Oreseur (Tensoon i think) to be back to help Vin.

Poor Sazed. It felt like he lost his soul. May he find peace in the next book. After finally getting together with his love, tindwyl shouldn't have died.
