I literally just finished this book, so excuse me if this review is a bit rambly. However, I absolutely ADORED this book. It was just so incredibly well crafted. It didn't have a single dull moment, and I just had a blast reading it.
I really grew to love our cast of characters in the last book, and that love only grew as the book continued. The developement of our crew, and especially Vin, Sazed, and Elend, was incredibly well done as well. I just loved following them all. On top of that I also loved learning more about the world. We got to delve a bit more in its history, and making new discoveries consistantly. I already thought the world was insanely interesting in the last book, but learning so much more in this one made me love it even more. There was just so much to it.
The story of this book was also just incredible. It's very politics and war focussed, a lot strategies being put in place, and I thought that was just incredibly interesting. If that's not your thing this book might drag a little, but I absolutely adored it. There was also a bigger story in the background of it all, and I loved seeing that being put together throughout the book. There's also so many twists and turns, some I saw coming, and most absolutely broke my brain. Brandon Sanderson is just a master in crafting all these twists and reveals so you feel smart, but in reality you are the biggest dumbdumb there ever was. So yeah, in conclusion I fucking adored this book, and can't wait to continue on with the series.

Lo he disfrutado bastante, con ganas de no estar en mitad de una opo para deborarlo de golpe. Pero hay un par de cosillas que me dejan algo fría y que, en teoría, se resuelven en el tercer libro. Me esperaba un cliffhanger peor, la liberación de una cosa chunga capaz de cambiar papeles y recuerdos y de, por lo que creo, controlar a los inquisidores, es sorprendente, pero tampoco me aviva la chispa de la curiosidad tanto como para comenzar el tercero ahora. Y en la última parte del libro he echado mucho de menos a OreSeur/TenSoon, lo sassy que es me alegraba la vida y no tenerle presente se nota.

Devo ammettere che ho fatto fatica a iniziare questo secondo volume dopo la drammatica conclusione del precedente che direbbi la morte di Kelsier mi ha sviscerato mi ci è voluto il dovuto tempo per processare il lutto
Mi è piaciuta l'incorporazione della tensione dell'aspetto politico della storia, conciliata all'adrenalina del campo di battaglia: chapeau di nuovo Sanderson, non ci si annoia mai con te.
La relazione fra Vin ed Elend ci ha messo un po' a farsi spazio nel mio cuore, ma più tardi mi sono resa conto che avevo a che fare con un rapporto di codipendenza intensa: che dire, all'immagine di questi poveri ragazzi aggrappati disperatamente l'uno all'altro come unica ancora di salvezza in un mondo che sta letteralmente crollando intorno a loro mi ha decisamente conquistato di più. Detto questo, non so perchè mi aspettassi qualcosa di sano da loro due: sono personaggi di natura opposta costretti a crescere in direzione opposta. Che bel melange.
Parlando di cose malsane: ZaneVenture . Che personaggio. Perso per sempre ma mai dimenticato. La sua imprevedibilità sia al lettore che ai personaggi lo ha reso un antagonista intrigante e coinvolgente. Spero disperatamente nel suo ritorno, basandomi su delusioni personali quali la comunicazione diretta che aveva con The Ruin... signor The Ruin lo resusciti e gli faccia scatenare più caos por favor...solo per me....
KANDRA LORE KANDRA LORE KANDRA LORE e confido nel prossimo volume per saziare questa crescente fame di sapere, ma soprattutto mi aspetto più informazioni sugli inquisitori, SPECIALMENTE dopo l'ultimo capitolo con Marsh. Pover uomo.Perde il fratello per una causa originariamente sua e ora perde la testa per la stessa causa.
Ho adorato i capitoli dal punto di vista di Breeze, ma devo dire che la carenza di Dockson si è sentita.La sua morte ha avuto il suo dovuto impatto, ma sarebbe stata più struggente se la sua presenza nei fatti precedenti non fosse stata così effimera. Alla fine era facilmente incorporabile qualche input in più da responsabile amministrativo di una città allo sbaraglio, o semplicemente dal più stretto amico di Kelsier specialmente sulla nascita della Church of the Survivor . Peccato, sarebbe stato molto interessante, soprattutto per l'importanza delle sua conversazione con Vin sulla sua permanente ostilità verso la nobiltà di Luthadel.
Sazed, Sazed, Sazed... glorioso personaggio fin dal primo libro. Dopo le tragedie degli ultimi capitoli in questo volume, voglio proprio vedere come andrà avanti dopo l'impatto delle conseguenze delle sue azioni, oltre a quelle immediate visibili già in questo volume.
Come sempre, una nota positiva sulle frasi di inizio capitolo che rendono l'esperienza di lettura molto più immersiva e coinvolgente: chiamatemi detective per le indagini fatte su quelle parole mistiche, signori.
Posso solo aggiungere che il terzo e ultimo volume è già sul comodino. Spero solo che la conclusione della trilogia sia all'altezza della storia costruita finora. Continua a deliziarmi, Sanderson. Conto su di te.

Edit 22/05: Dopo aver riletto il primo volume mi sono sentita in dovere di abbassare il voto, particolarmente per come si sono perse le relazioni di Vin con gli altri membri del gruppo. Comprendo che la sua relazione con Elend e la definizione di principi suoi sia il fulcro di questo volume, ma non è detto che debbano essere esclusivi. Che il lutto per Kelsier abbia avuto il suo peso sulle relazioni varie, capisco, ma ridurre significativamente il rapporto di Vin con Dox, Ham e Breeze mi ha lasciato un po' perplessa, soprattutto quando i primi capitoli sono partiti così bene nel mantenere il legame fra loro.

This book is a really good example of how good reveals and plot twists hit when they’re delivered effectively. It doesn’t feel like anything comes out of nowhere, and the result leaves the reader feeling surprised but satisfied. Also, really fantastic characters. They all feel very deep and real. It’s a pretty gloomy book, though. Leaves off on hella sad vibes; I don’t expect that to change given the series track record. This makes me feel apprehensive about the final installment.

Well I finally got round to reading this chonker! I was a little worried that this book was going to be a bit flat without Kelsier but while it has a very different vibe I would say this is also pretty great.
Sanderson has a halfway comedic air at times in this book which had me giggling (anyone fancy an actual among us side plot? What about ANOTHER army laying siege to the city to add to your collection? How about watching a character fall victim to their own competence? No??). Despite everything going wrong Sanderson somehow made somewhat funny and I am definitely on board for that. I think the build up was better than in 'The final empire' as the exciting parts of the book were a bit more spread out which improved the overall reading experience but made the climax a little less dramatic. That being said, the resolution of the 'among us' subplot I mentioned earlier was like a punch to the face. Like I knew from the beginning that the reveal was going to sting but not quite like that??
The reason this book isn't five stars are primarily related to Vin and Elend's relationship. It was great seeing Elend really become his own character in this book but him and Vin having breakdowns in communication or being all sappy round each other was very meh. This book features a brief love triangle (Aah!) which I won't go into any further but was very frustrating. Vin just wafts around like 'but maybe Elend is too good for me and I should be with this actual rat instead' and I was just grinding my teeth and wishing I could reach into the book and shake her. Rat man has got to be one of the least likable love interests I have ever seen - he is very 'gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss' in a most unsexy way and every time I thought he was done being the worst he would have a new, even less appealing surprise for me (admitedly the resolution of the love triangle was one of the standout scenes of the book so there is that at least!). Also this book has an ending that despite not being a landslide disaster tricked my brain into feeling mildly crushed in a way I can only liken to a lighter version of finishing the Farseer Trilogy. Not a feeling I wanted thanks but this may have just been me.
