3.5 ? it was really good but at the same time there were some parts i didnt love and it wasnt my favorite

I loved all the characters, their little family, and I 100% did cry multiple times, it just isn't my favorite book I've ever read.

i'm glad I read it, though, it's a really good adventure story about chosen family, indigenous culture/oppression,

and how easy humanity and history can repeat itself. there were just some characters I feel were underdeveloped (Rose deserved better to just be a passive love interest and Wab deserved way better too)

Story grabbed me right away and was tough to put down.
I enjoyed it a lot.
There is a second in the series, but this book concludes well and is fine as a stand alone. (Although I’m going to be starting the next one really soon!)

Probably 4.5 stars?

What a great book.
Emotionally very resonant and powerful, the right amount of hopeful and severe. There are a lot of open questions and a lot of information that is neither certain nor explained, which I greatly appreciate. I enjoy the openness and uncertainty of this story, it made me feel like I was fully in this scenario, trying to figure out what was going on. I also enjoyed the focus on familial relationships and friendships.

Really great dystopian novel that demonstrates the history of Indigenous erasure and the impact of colonization well through really good world building

I couldn't stop thinking about this book and kept trying to find more time to read it. I thoroughly enjoyed this coming-of-age, indigenous dystopia.
