Quentin Tarantino is my king.

The best companion piece to the movie you could ask for. Start to finish entertaining, adding layers to the characters and backstories from the film.

A great, enthralling read that adds insight into Tarantino's creative process.

i liked the extra bits about brandy. the first chapter about sharon tate was gross. very descriptive book. i could clearly envision what was going on. but on the other hand there’s also long meandering parts that are a slog to get through. i am mildly uncomfortable at trudi/mirabella’s characterization but some of the scenes with her and rick were cute. i think i liked this ending better than the movies.

Tarantino needs to stick to scripts. Also i knew it wouldn’t be his book without including the n word lol.

I wanted to like it as I loved the movie, but too much felt like QT just taking the opportunity to show off his esoteric knowledge of cinema as well as his ability to incorporate his two favorite f-words as much as possible. the plot feels more like fanfic (even of his own work!) rather than focusing on enriching and expanding the world we saw on screen. i didn’t hate it, but i certainly didn’t love it!
