When people ask about terrifying horror books, I often think of Adam Nevill's ones.
I've read many horror books in the past 2 years, and the few I've read from this author are still ranking high.
It's not just how well researched Adam Nevill's books are, and how realistic the horror element is. It's his compelling writing, his pace, and his storytelling that make his books excellent reads.
Last days specifically has Blair witch project vibes, with the main characters having been tasked by a strange entrepeneur to go investigate and film the survivors of a cult that thrived in the 60s, and that ended in a mysterious homicide-suicide ritual after a few years.
There are many elements of horror to this story, and some parts really had me on my toes.
A beautiful read, a great story. I recommend this or any other Nevill novel to anyone who's looking for well-written and scary horrors!

Cults. Can't get enough of them. Real life horror, right? And Last Days goes beyond that. There's more to Sister Katherine than just being a manipulative sociopath, malignant narcissist, ludicrous messiah, absurd prophet or whatever you want to call that hippie queen of the hive. A lot more, in fact. Unworldly horror!
Two types that work very well together here. Also because of the structure of the book. No unnecessary intricacies, just straightforward storytelling and all the more effective because of it. I was down with Kyle. Thinks he's making a documentary, but it's more like he's part of it. Palpable, his increasing despair and disbelief.
Never lost interest in what The Temple of the Last Days was all about either. There is quite a lot of explaining going on, though. Bothered me a bit just before the endgame, where I just wanted it to get on with it. Other than that; gripping, creepy and, when all is revealed, pretty messed-up too. More Nevill for me.

*STRONG 4 STAR*
This is the longest book I have read since I got back into reading. It took me in a whirlwind of a ride because when I tell you this was nothing less of entertaining! I am so glad I got this recommendation to read this book because if I didn't, I don't think I would have ever known about it.
Last Days by Adam Nevill is about a small team of men that are filming a documentary about a cult and as they investigate, interview former members and more; really eerie, scary and bad things begin to happen and haunt them.
I really enjoyed this book. It felt realistic, the author broke down this journey in a such a smooth and informative way. Their were elements of real cult leaders highlighted that I was not privy too which now makes me want to go do research and explore. The author described these horrific events very detailed, so vivid to where I had to keep the light on when I read it lol. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to enjoy a ride into a cult through people who are not ready for what they were about to be in for. I have no words but Amazing ! and I would definitely continue to read Adam Nevill as I continue on this journey into horror novels.
BEYOND WELL DONE!

Really loved the story and the idea behind it. Creepy, supernatural cult. However, this is a looong book, 530 pages long and at times I felt it had too much information that it took me out of the story. But what a story it was!
