Very good, but the ending was a little rocky. The buildup, tension, and descriptions throughout are perfect - however the book does end up going a little off the rails and the ending was wild. Overall a good read.

This was one of the most disturbing and scariest things I've ever read.
This is a story about a cult, demons, human sacrifice, cannibalism, abuse and so much more. The story begins with a fairly level headed MMC but as the story progresses and he experiences the terror that is the "blood friends". We get to witness the steady decline of his mental and physical health.
The descriptions of these demonic figures were so detailed it seriously creeped me out and had me looking over my shoulders-especially at night.
I also loved that the author mentioned some real life cult leaders and the carnage that surrounded them, I always love when fact is mentioned in fiction. Yes, it was a lengthy read but every part of this story was needed to give the reader insight and true knowledge of what our protagonist is up against.
This was my first Adam Nevill read and I was not disappointed. It came highly recommended and I can see why.
Solid read and perfect for the spooky season.
