THIS is the horror anthology I've NEEDED!!!
Questioning why queer people are portrayed as villains and then reclaiming that trope in a queer-friendly way was *chef's kiss*.
The diversity in this was fantastic. Hearing stories about different genders, sexualities, cultures, races, and ages made this a solid case for more inclusive storytelling. Queer Little Nightmares has been on my radar for a few months, so I'm very thankful for the opportunity to have listened to the audiobook via NetGalley. This is at the top of my list for my next book-buying trip. The narration was also *chef's kiss* At first I thought it might have been better with the typical creepy horror story voice, but nope, I was wrong. Their voice is great. Perfect. Loved it.
Though I enjoyed every story and poem (seriously there's no filler in here) the standouts for me were The Vetala's Song, Godzilla Silhouette Against City, Glamour Us, And the Moon Spun Round Like A Top, Invert, and Ghosts of Prides Past.

This is an amazing anthology of queer horror. I loved the variety of stories and poems and the emotional range that was portrayed throughout. I highly recommend the audiobook because the narrator did a fantastic job with it. Rarely do I find myself captivated by each story in a collection, but this one did that for me. I'm looking forward to purchasing the physical copy as soon as possible!

Queer Little Nightmares was haunting and fascinating in equal measure. Poignant in its exploration of intersectionality, queerness, & sexuality through and with monsters, I implore you to read this if you have even a passing interest in horror

This was a fun anthology to read, and I enjoyed how all the contributing authors explored monstrosity and queerness in their respective poems and stories. Some pieces haunted, others leaned harder into the conventional idea of the monstrous, and many were surprisingly reflective. I will say when it comes to engaging with the themes of queerness and monstrosity, some were more abstract than others, especially when it came to the poems (though, I guess that is the nature of a lot of poetry, haha). I also appreciated that there were a fair number of queer authors of color who also considered race.
I will say some pieces were more engaging than others, but, overall, I thought this was a really thoughtful anthology that’s perfect for the spooky season.
