I was a little bit thrown by the dramatic vibe shift from the first one, but quickly got used to it and really enjoyed Controls POV and a deeper look into the more political side of Area X. I'm excited to read the next one!

Overlapping mysteries, veiled characters, and progressively abrupt changes in your own perspective make you feel as though you’re going hand in hand with the protagonist through a shared descent into insanity—not unlike <i>Annihilation</i>—and it’s a total blast. Initially, it’s the SLOWEST of burns; simultaneously boring and deeply engaging. Just as foggy as the first, the small trickle of information, changing and growing in its revelations until reaching crescendo, where you learn everything and nothing at all.

It started of very mundane compared to the first book. But boy oh boy did things escalate quickly. Just like the rest of the series you don’t know a lot but it captivates you!
Unlike the first one this actually feels like a novel.
