Much weaker than the first. Fleshed out some of the lore a bit.

The book was really solid, I liked most of it. This was a really fast and well written book. I loved certain elements, and liked a lot of the rest of it. I will definitely be continuing the series.
However, I was slightly off put by the aggressively gendered language used through out the entire book. Even when the main character is talking about someone whose gender he is not aware he used he/she and wo(man) to refer to the person. This didn’t really serve a purpose in the plot other than to establish the main characters odd feelings about the unknown character, which was also illustrated elsewhere.

A lot of discovery about area x, but it felt more like research and less like exploring area x. It answers questions without explicitly just telling you. I felt as if there were a love story blossoming between the main two characters.
I'm glad that the next book goes back into area x instead of trying to understand it from the outside like this book.
