I really wanted to love this. But I ended up just liking it. The first half dragged on and on. Then the second half seemed to be rushed, then slowed, then rushed again. It was weird pacing.

I dreaded how long this book was, but the development of the story was great. And so glad that there is an ending where Anastasia gets her happy ending.

this book was a magic experience. like, it’s the only way i can describe how good and well written was this story.

this is undeniably my favorite book written by sophie lark (i was actually surprised

This story was one that was full of so many emotions and it was beautifully done. I don’t see it as a retelling or even a romantic story but a story of what could have been, and great fantasy read. It gives us Anastasia in various stages growing up, finding and discovering magic, the conflicts she encounters, and so much more. The strength she possesses is phenomenal and the story is so descriptive you feel as if you are a part of it living it with the characters, yet at times it could be daunting for me because I’m a romance reader and the steam and connection doesn’t come for a long time plus the author is creating this world using history and fantasy to weave this epic reads. Open your mind and enjoy this fantasy read because it is one that is beautiful.

2.5 honestly. I wanted to read it cause Anastasia was one of my favourite movies when I was young. Didn't really vibe with everyone having magic. Too many characters with none really getting to be in depth

“i loved you because i was always going to love you. that’s what we were made to do.”

“you’re everything i love, everything i care about.”

i truly have no words other than i loved this book. anastasia and damien are the definition of soulmates! they may have hated each other in the beginning, but they still always looked out for one another. the two didn’t know it at the time, but they were really destined to be unstoppable together.

this book gives you a bit of everything. there is romance, adventure, betrayal, magic, family bonds, and so much more. sophie’s writing practically falls from the page to create a movie in your mind. be ready to be transported into an incredible universe and devour every page of this book.

I loved the animated movie growing up, and wrote a paper about the romanovs at one point, so this reimagining of Anastasia’s story was really fun to read! The author made a playlist with songs to listen to at specific parts in the book, which made reading even more like watching a movie in your head. It was a very unique reading experience and more authors should do it!
