Some of this felt briefly exciting. But not enough. And I felt a little flat at the end. I guess that in a sense the disappointing decisions we make leave us like that. Therefore this book reflects that quite well. But overall the pace wasn't where I would have liked it.

This felt like a queer version of Normal People that had some politics sprinkled in. It was aggressively fine for me.There were nuggets of gold but at the end of the day the main character felt too distant to really get into.

I want to be silly and say “Exciting times? They were not!” But that’s trite and silly. I could feel what the author wanted to get  at but I’m not sure it really got there.
