Dreamy Sigh.

Even just from the sprinkling of Marian we got in the last book, I couldn’t wait to read the next one once I realized it was centered around her. And first of all. WE LOVE BI FOR BI.

As soon as the book started, right with those letters, I was gone for those two. How can sexual tension be so palpable between letters. Insane. They drive me insane. AND AGAIN WITH THE BANTER. CAT SEBASTIAN. WHAT IS YOUR SECRET. I AM ADDICTED TO THESE FOOLS AND THE WAY THEY VERBALLY SHANK ONE ANOTHER.

Another shoutout to audiobook narrator. You slay me king. So funny.

Just as in the last, the sex was hot af. And incredibly mindful. The representation of women who don’t want to be pregnant or penetrated at all, and how Rob not only respects that, but also actively enjoys and benefits from it. As soon as he revealed he was a bottom when with men I was like “oh Marian will love this……and I *do* hope I get to see it” and I SURE DID and Marian even SAID she’d get a dildo for later use like !!!! CAN THEY BE MORE PERFECT

And again! Cat Sebastian avoids the miscommunication trope! Literally the entire book I was DREADING the moment where Marian found out Rob was the real heir all along, and then they have a fight about how she knew she couldn’t trust him, and then contrived occurrences keep them from making up until the last minute, blah blah blah…BUT IT DIDNT HAPPEN. My relief was simply palpable. And like. Based on Marian’s character and her circumstances, DUH of course she doesn’t give af. I even wish she’d made a slightly bigger deal of him lying by omission for so long, or at least a light smack with a “just don’t ever fucking lie to me again and we’re good” or something.

The constant non toxic masculinity in this duology was also lovely. Forgot to mention it about Kit in the last one, but both him and Rob repeatedly mentioning how much they love babies and kittens and such is so sweet. It was just so nice to see Rob helping a young mother at an inn and like actually enjoying his time with the baby, all while knowing Marian has a small baby…just so soft. He is going to be the best papa. I’ll cry about it.

To me, the heist and blackmail and inheritance and duke-legitimacy is really just a backdrop for some really incredible character/relationship developing, and that’s ok! I love a rich backdrop, especially in a period piece.

Anyways! I adored this wee series and I wish there was more. Probably gonna read more Cat Sebastian in the future!

I loved the hijinks and the letters. Some of the plot felt like it was just added on.

This was THEE most unexpectedly DELIGHTFUL audiobook I’ve listened to in my life! I picked it up on a whim, and I’m SO happy that I did. I actually laughed out loud, OUT LOUD, so many times! I instantly fell in love with the story’s protagonists. This book is hilarious, adorable, steamy

Suprising lack of crimes, underwhelming, I kept wondering when something exciting was going to happen

I WANT ALL THE (p/v) NO-CHANCE-OF-PREGNANCY SEX IN MY FUTURE ROMANCE NOVELS. Wow. In the face of abortion bans across the country, it was so indescribably hot to read about sex where the characters were IN AGREEMENT AND OPEN CONVERSATION about not wanting to risk pregnancy. Holy shiiiiit. Yessssss.
