Notes:
- Henry and Alex my beloveds <333
- This political/royal monarchy setting was such a great silly little concept that is perfectly escapist if a bit too ideal for today's world. But we can always dream :') Really going all in on the world gave this book a solid foundation for the characters to play in.
- The romance was executed well and the banter was my favourite part.
- Not quite 5 stars just because I felt like I could hear the author's voice through multiple characters and I would've really loved to have seen more distinct voices between the characters and in their inner narratives especially!

I read this book just before the movie was released, and it honestly quite surprised me. While at times it can be quite cheesy (which I still love, don't get me wrong) the novel really shines through in the moments that you don't expect. I also really love McQuiston's writing style! I usually struggle to read longer novels, but this was another one of their novels that I couldn't put down.

For those who have not read the bonus chapter in the Hardback Edition: I highly recommend finding yourself a copy if you loved the book! It gives a lovely ending to two characters that I fell in love with

☆ The Love Story I Didn't Know I Needed. But I Did ☆

I have watched the film before I have started the book and really enjoyed it and was thrilled to find out it was actually based on a book. The plot of the book was therefore no surprise to me but even so the novel was even more fun that the movie was. It is an absolute treat.

I was in love with our protagonists from the get go. The insight to their backstories and their thoughts and feelings that the book was able to provide was probably why I enjoyed the book more so than the movie.

The contemporary setting really worked in favour of the story as I've found it incredibly relatable, witty and entertaining. The characters were engaging throughout and I could not read the book fast enough.

Though it features some sensitive topics such as loss of parent, substance use, and outing, it is a genuine feel good romance novel.
