I enjoyed this book. the premise was really interesting. I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing style and would have probably preferred to have the book split perspective between Alex and Henry. I also didn’t like how the scenes would change drastically from paragraph to paragraph, it should have been split in to more chapters really.
Some things felt like we didn’t get a resolution to: June and Pez, June and Nora? It just felt like we had been given all the building blocks and didn’t even get the hint of an answer about any of them. the spice was great but it felt a little glossed over. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think all romance books have to have graphic details of sex in them but the way the writer wrote so graphically about everything leading up to the literal sex acts was the same as any good spice writer, but then it would gloss over the acts and describe the in-betweens and afters, I don’t know if it’s just me but maybe it’s because it’s a female author, writing about gay sex?
Very enjoyable overall but some of the politics went over my head and it just didn’t quite live up to the hype it had been built up to on social media.

This is not the review this book deserves-if you want a lovely, sweet queer love book to read, this is for you! Absolutely the fluff I needed in my life.

i haven't been this invested in political drama in years. hopelessly funny and inspiring, yet realistic. i'm particularly pleased that it remained in one consistent POV for the entire book. alex and henry were endearing beyond belief, and i think i'll be thinking of these two for a while.

Alex and Henry are one of my favorite book couples, I just did a reread since I adore this book and just got the collectors addition but also because the movie is coming out soon, this book was somehow even better then I remembered it, I laughed, I cried and I feel in love. This book put me all in my feels and is one of my favorite books. 100/10 I always recommend this book

This is my first book from Casey and I must say, it didn't disappoint. I love Alex's smart mouth and the fact that he was named after Hamilton was awesome (I'm a big fan of the musical.) The enemies-to-lovers, fake dating, and royal tropes were neatly done. Henry was charming and interesting. Every character from Alex's side was amazing. I'm so sad about Raf's experience. I can truly say that the world today is more open-minded about queer people today more than ever. I also love that there was a "we against the world" type of feeling. Damn, the monarch was cruel at the least, but I'm happy that most of Henry's family members were supportive of him. Oh, Zahra, my girl, you are my spirit animal❤️ Btw, I was surprised a bit that this was spicy; I devoured every bit nonetheless. Overall, I love that this is about family, friendship, and love. I'll read all your books, Casey, that's for sure✨ P. S. I'm super excited to see the movie adaptation.
