I knew I was going to love this book from the time I first read the back cover. An enemies to lovers romance between the First Son of the United States and the Prince of England? Count me in! I caved and watched the movie with my roommate way back in September and instantly fell in love, going out to buy the book immediately afterwards. It took me awhile to finally get around to reading it, but once I finally had time to sit down and read this book, I tore through 95 percent of it in a three-day span. This book was everything I hoped it would be and more. It had me laughing, aching, and kept me up half the night two days in a row because I was so invested. The themes of finding your identity and learning to balance emotions were strong in this one, and I truly loved watching this story unravel page by page. This was a true page turner that took me down an emotional roller coaster, and Alex and Henry's story will stick with me for a long time. One of my favorite books ever!

Casey McQuiston first wowed me with I Kissed Shara Wheeler, then again with One Last Stop and now Red White and Royal Blue is one of my favourite books. The storytelling, the character development, the depth each character holds is all amazing. The writing is sad but hopeful,  joyful and beautiful all at once. The characters are so so loveable (like all MQuiston novels) and I would 100% recommend Red White and Royal Blue. Also it’s a crime the film did not include June.

The banter and chemistry was great! I also loved the political background of both these characters. This version of the US is idealistic and nice to see. I liked the character depth and diversity too! Lots of lines made me laugh out loud too. I wish there weren’t so many sex scenes and swearing; the book would have been not quite as long lol. It just felt like the middle of the book was just them being thirsty. This book moved fast at the beginning, but around halfway through I didn’t know where the book was heading because of the pacing and the endless sex scenes. Overall, I really enjoyed this book though! A quintessential LGBTQIA+ romcom.
