The writing style is pretty simplistic but even so, the overall story felt very accurate to the true experience of being a teenager struggling with mental health.

More than a review these are just random chaotic thoughts I had while reading the book:

Tori has a very particular and distinctive voice as a narrator and character. I liked her edgyness, because it fits her teenage self and it reminded me of when I was like 15 (yeah, I was very cringey and this is cringey but I get why).

She was also kind of funny like look at this passage: "Tori just held a conversation by herself. I think I'm going to cry" "There, there" I pat her on the shoulder "Be strong - You will get through this"

And "I laugh again, on the outside at least. Ha ha ha"

She hates social gatherings and tries to avoid hanging out with her "friends", which was very relatable. I feel sorry for the fact that she had to see Charlie relapse, because that must have been so traumatic. She is depressed, sarcastic, annoying, pessimistic, etc and I get her. I found her behaviour to be a reflection of my own when I was at my worst with depression.

"I listen to the dark. They're all coming to get you. Your heartbeats are footsteps. Your brother is unwell. You don't have any friends (...) Don't be sad anymore" this feels like something i would have written to myself in the past and the way she tries to hide and ignore her mental state because her brother is unwell also hit home. Don't do that.

I wouldn't recommend this book to someone who is depressed because man, it gets you into this darker headspace and makes you cry and just lie in your bed all day again

"I say nothing but I do not feel alive" so true, Tori.

The ending was too dramatic and unrealistic, she kind of went insane but I also feel like I can't judge her bc I would have probably behaved the same way, so I guess it was okey.

I would have liked for Tori and Michael to just be friends but I am also not entirely sure they are together. I thought Tori was aroace _/(º.º)\_

Also final thought, did anyone else feel like she might have been autistic coded? or is it just me?
