I went into this not knowing what to expect but found it surprising and engrossing. Newman very effectively destabilizes you as the reader in a way that mirrors the shifting realities in the story. Not particularly uplifting but an engaging premise - as soon as I finished, I flipped back to the beginning to read with a more complete understanding.
Graphic: Forced institutionalization, Gaslighting, and Mental illness
Moderate: Child death

This is the book that has stayed with me the most out of everything I read last year. The concept is endlessly engaging and continues to fascinate long after the final page.
Graphic: Gaslighting, Mental illness, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , and Ableism
Moderate: Death, Death of parent, Fire/Fire injury, Forced institutionalization, Medical trauma, Suicidal thoughts, Toxic relationship, and Child death
