I enjoyed the book overall, but it took me a while to get into it. I very nearly quit in the first 20% of the book, but I’m glad I did not. The main character feels very naive to me, but I loved the development that she goes through. It made the story authentic, even though the reader can see what is coming from a mile away.

Stressful. Enjoyed the book, but this poor dude. Every woman he falls for is always scheming and spying on him. Sad life for him! Has to be in 2 wars, as a Nazi, nonetheless, total drama with both women, has PTSD, sweet as can be to both of them and they are both lying, conspiring Bs. Ugh... just wanted to shake her like TELL THE TRUTH!!!!

4.5 stars. The Ambassador’s Daughter is a riveting novel that has many unexpected twists and turns. Revelations about a long held secret and a shocking betrayal add to the story’s complex and multi-layered plot. Rich in historical detail, Pam Jenoff provides her readers with a fascinating story about a time period that is typically not featured in historical romances. There were a couple hide-in-my-sweatshirt from the awkwardness moments, but all in all I enjoyed this book. Admittedly there were a few times I just wanted to scream at Margot and throw my book at her, but the story did grab me. It got to the point where I couldn't put the book down and had to finish. I am looking forward to reading the 2 books, of which this was a prequel.

A Harlequin is a Harlequin is a Harlequin. Too sappy and melodramatic!
