One of the best books ever known to man. I’ve read this book about 5 times and am now in my twenties, it still hits. Also, the sequels are all good and provide surprisingly good satire on the public school system.
Dwight is odd and people often make fun of him, however he folded and origami yoda that dispenses advice. GOOD advice. Is the yoda real - or does everyone just want an easy way to muddle through 6th grade?
This is a fun enough readalike for fans of Wimpy Kid. I'm not a fan of Wimpy Kid, so I'm not surprised that I wasn't really into this one. But I know that I'm not really audience for it either. The classroom dynamics are authentic enough, and the characters are engaging. An amusing enough school story.
I read this one with my son. It's lightly funny and captures middle school life well while exploring what it's like to be the weird kid. He'd give it a 5. I give it a 3. Not bound to be a classic by any means, but a good modern children's book.
Quirky and silly will save it for my son when he gets a bit older.
I read this again today and found it much funnier the second time around. My middle school student recommended it because she found it hilarious. It is good for male or female readers, though makes a little more sense if the reader knows about the Star Wars movies.
A hilarious, funny, sweet light-hearted read. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I promised my son I would read this. He read it three times in one day he liked it so much.
A solid book. A little ridiculous and the format was interesting, but the book was pretty decent. Also, I had forgotten how annoying of a kid Harvey was.
