I think this book just didn’t work for me because I don’t really believe in supernatural beings.
I mean you’re trying to tell me that a dead woman possessed a little kid to stab his “mom” to death
?? Idk man I just don’t rock with that! Also I’m sort of sick of this housemaid type trope where a young woman goes to live with a fucked up family and
the husband inevitably makes a move on her
. Idk if I’d really recommend this book, there are so many better thrillers.

I did not predict the ending, I didn’t want to put the book down

Mallory, a young woman in recovery, takes a live-in nanny job for a sweet little boy named Teddy in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Things seem normal until Teddy’s innocent drawings turn dark—and way too detailed to just be from a kid’s imagination. As Mallory digs deeper into the house’s past, she starts uncovering secrets that were meant to stay buried. The closer she gets to the truth, the more dangerous things become—and no one around her is as innocent as they seem.

This book was a wiiiiiild ride 😭 I know I don’t predict a lot of plot twists, but with this one?? I was so far off it’s embarrassing. Jason Rekulak did such an amazing job blending psychological thriller with just enough paranormal to make me question my own sanity. Like… am I okay??

My favorite part—and I know I’m not alone here—was the inclusion of the actual drawings throughout the book! That visual element made the story feel way more immersive, like I was uncovering the mystery right alongside Mallory. Honestly, it gave the book such a unique vibe and made it feel like more of an experience than just a read.

If you enjoy creepy kid vibes, unreliable characters, buried secrets, and a story that blurs the line between real and supernatural, this one’s for you. Also perfect for people who like books that are fast-paced, visual, and a little off in the best way.

Well, if there was ever a book to fail a buddy read, this one is it! This book hooked me from the first chapter & I finished the whole thing day 1. I was so invested in the mystery that was unfolding and had several theories worked out in my head.
Nothing would have prepared me for what happened or the creepy pictures that were hidden between the pages.

One of the best books I’ve read all year. The twists were so good and I loved the ending. Highly recommend!
