Absolutely breathtaking. Your heart absolutely breaks for Morgan and watching her emerge from her trauma is an amazing read. Beautifully written, with Reichardt holding back in all the right places. Looking forward to more from this author.

"This is your moment. There is only one you."

this was an interesting story of the ripple effect of a school shooting.

This book wasn't quite what I expected, but I liked it anyway. Even though some parts were a little slow, I think Morgan is really funny and sweet. I've never met anyone who's been through this kind of situation, but I can totally understand the reasons she had to lock herself up, not wanting to go outside her house for anything, not even to go to school. I think the book has a very positive message to those who might have faced something similar and need some words of comfort.

Morgan Grant becomes a homebound agoraphobe after a tragic school shooting. She wasn't intentionally connected with it, but she struggles with the guilt of being inadvertently involved in the incident. She is also dealing with an absent father who has PTSD after coming back from the war in Afghanistan. Her life is falling apart and it seems like nothing can make this feeling go away.

She feels like she's disconnected from the world. Underwater. She can't hear or see anything. She can't go back to the surface. That's when she meets Evan, a new boy moves in next door. He's the first person in a long time that makes her want to walk outside the front door. He reminds her of all the things she misses, all the things they could be enjoying together. Little by little, he shows her how to let go of the past and move on.

This is the story of a girl who is struggling after a school shooting. After she meets the new neighbor boy, she begins to heal.

4.5 stars. Excellent read!

3.5. I thought the portrayal of Morgan's mental illness after a horrific and tragic event in her life was well-written and this is an interesting story I think teens will really like. The flashback scenes were some of he best in the book. But I had issues with Evan, I felt the stuff with her dad was just thrown in there and wish it had been more fleshed out, and the pacing could be realllly slow at times for such a quick read.

I would have liked it more if it wasn't for Evan and
Spoilerher dad thing
.

This book radiates a quiet strength. Completely lovely and redemptive and hopeful and Morgan Grant is a total badass.
