Extremely detailed and scientific, yet the big picture is simple. I would lie if I said I understood more than 10% though. This was written before the discovery of the double helix DNA. And it’s a throwback on how it felt when we did not know at the time.

i like reading about how people think about the world. how many of the claims of this ~70 year old book are accurate? probably very few! but i love that people look at the world and ask questions.

The first part about Biology and relations to Physics is fantastic. The latter parts about philosophy of mind and matter are highly speculative.

The classic book by Schroedinger speculates on life before Watson and Crick and the discovery of the structure of DNA. the book summarizes in physical and chemical outline what is necessary for and understanding of biological life as a replicating molecule being a key ingredient. This was before DNA was figured out and shows that Schroedinger had a good insight to life's nature. Also some biological detail to this curious scientist's life.
