great beginning, over the top ending

The book reeled me in from the start, I was so intrigued to see what happened to Olivia and Eden. The last part of the book was a bit much with Ava getting involved. The line of the book was chilling, so overall I’m glad I read this as my February first read.

What a ride. Samantha Bailey packs a lot of punches with the twists and turns in under 300 pages.

Eden Miller is a recently separated mom of a new college student, Ava, a realtor after her husband Dave told her he wants a divorce. It's only been 6 weeks since she and Dave dropped off their daughter at scUm and he dropped the bombshell. She's doomscrolling Facebook on her 45th birthday [ironic since Facebook is currently down] and finds this guy she crushed on in college, Justin Ward. Eden is a little drunk, so she sends him a friend request. Boom, accepted. They begin private messaging, and it turns flirty, fast. Justin was a drummer in a band at the same unfortunate university. They almost hooked up at a party senior year, but Eden chickens out and then gets sick.

At an open house that Eden is working for the brokerage firm, she meets a woman who calls herself Lila Cavanaugh. They hit it off. However, Eden is sexting with Justin, or so it seems. Things get quickly escalated when her boss takes her to task and tells her she's off the house as the realtor because she was caught doing something inappropriate. Not long after, Dave shows up, Ava got in trouble for drinking. They go off to deal with their 17 year old daughter, who frankly seems like a daddy's girl and brat. Ava blames her mother for the separation and sees her as the disciplinarian.

When things get intense, we get "Olivia"'s point of view. Olivia is Justin's wife, and things get even crazier. I don't want to spoil anything, 1 thing or 2 I had predicted but not everything. The plot reminded me a little of the Mrs Parrish books by Liv Constantine.

The curveballs kept coming, which made putting the last 25% of the book away pretty impossible. And then the last bit left me wondering. I really enjoyed most of this book, but as a wife of an Ohio State alumnus, I had some serious ick about the setting. Grosse Point reminded me of the movie, of course.

I didn't see Eden as boring or a prude, so the separation didn't make sense to me. Justin was a disgusting character to me. TW for domestic violence, assault, drugging, and kidnapping a minor. 4/5☆ I picked this as an Amazon 1st Reads.

I was really excited about this book but unfortunately the only way to enjoy it would be to suspend all belief in how actual humans talk or act. It’s pretty cringey, completely unrealistic, and does a lot of telling instead of showing. The twists didn’t work for me, didn’t make a lot of sense, and I disliked every character in this book.

This was actually pretty good and easy to get into as the events happening in the book happened very quickly. I liked how the divorce was able to empower Eden’s womanhood. One day to read.

Good read. Two POVs. DV present, but not graphically detailed. Shows the psychological trauma one can endure from a lifetime of abuse. Some plot holes, needed more explanation on the husband’s indiscretions…
fast-paced

What did I just read 😂 Marketed as a “sensual domestic thriller,” I was surprised by the lack of thrills. I couldn’t root for any of the characters, and everything that happened was so farfetched.

The author also had a habit of alternating timelines quickly and frequently within the span of a few pages which was difficult to follow.
