Time Out of Joint grabbed me instantly. From the first few pages, I was fully immersed in Philip K. Dick’s strange, almost-too-perfect suburban world. The writing made it incredibly easy to visualize everything—from the eerie 1950s neighborhood to the oddly offbeat people inhabiting it. Every scene unfolded vividly in my mind, and I could picture each character with ease, like watching a film I had somehow always known.

As the story progressed and reality began to shift beneath the surface, I felt like I was unraveling the mystery right alongside Ragle Gumm. His character confusion became mine, his paranoia contagious in the best possible way. It’s that rare kind of book where you don’t just read the protagonist’s experience—you live it.

Dick’s ability to warp perception and toy with truth never felt forced or gimmicky here. The plot moves with momentum, and even its quiet moments are laced with tension. Start to finish, this was a wild, cerebral ride that never lost my attention. If you’ve ever wanted to question everything you know about reality—while being thoroughly entertained—this is the book for you.

1) Il ritrovamento da parte del piccolo Sammy di alcuni bigliettini alla discarica, a seguito del quale Ragle tratta cautamente con lui e lo paga per ottenerli;
2) Il momento in cui l'attore-poliziotto si prepara a entrare in scena, controllando Ragle da uno schermo;
3) Lo scambio di cognomi Keitelbein-Kesselman. L'inserimento delle due diverse famiglie in momenti distanti tra loro mi ha fatto provare la stessa confusione del protagonista e di Black. Mossa geniale;
4) Il buco nel muro creato dai Kesselman per fuggire dallo stanzino della casa in collina in cui Ragle li aveva rinchiusi. What the fuck totale;

What. The. Fuck.
