I enjoyed the friendship struggle between Percy and Tyson, showing how even though Percy is a demigod, he's still a teenager worrying about fitting in and going with the norm. I don't like how Riordan makes a mini-story out of every few chapters. I wish the characters, instead, would spend more time in one location and solving one problem. I get where this writing style would be appealing to younger readers with short attention spans.
