Dylan and I both loved this book about a wombat who meets new, human neighbors and discovers that they can be convinced to do any number of favors for a wombat. The illustrations make the book.
funny lighthearted

-has lots of repetition, so it's good for teaching toddlers and early readers words
-funny and cute
-has one line at the very end that makes the whole story worth it :D

This picture book is hysterical!

Mothball is a wombat with Attitude and her diary is so funny. She sleeps a lot and eats a lot. Her day is not actually very eventful but somehow Jackie French and Bruce Whatley - through their use of lots of visual humour - still manage to make a hilarious book.
I also like this book because I think the concept is very fresh and interesting.
Am I the only one who finds that her behaviour is similar to a cat's?

Cute and funny but possibly a little too boring for storytime.

This only made me love wombats more than I already do.

Cute and funny story. Outstanding illustrations. Might work in a storytime, but I'm not 100% sure.

Super adorable, it's making me consider the wombat as my favorite animal. I mean, a fairly accurate depiction of the trials and daily occurrences of a wombat. Plus when he eats carrots it makes me happy.

Wombat is living her life of sleeping, digging, and eating when she gets new human neighbors. She quickly starts to enjoy their presence, especially the carrots they keep giving her. As their coexistence continues, wombat starts to find more benefits of having the neighbors, like scratching posts (furniture) and soft dirt to dig in (gardens).

The illustrations in this story are so well done, from wombat's lazy attitude to the neighbors' quizzical expressions. While this is a cute story about wombat enjoying her neighbors, discussion could also be had about the impact of humans moving in to animal habitats.
