*for grad school* A solid introduction to the elements of African American rhetoric, tracing origins in Africa and enslavement, and exploring future modalities of rhetoric including education and technology. In particular, the exploration of 21st century rhetorics (namely twitter) as a lens for viewing both black innovations and "signifying" and white manipulations and abuses was eye-opening and interesting analysis. The final section on pedagogy was interesting but seemed slightly different from the rest of the book.
