aaaaa this was so good! the premise was totally unexpected but it Really worked for me, kyoshi starts off absolute baby but her development into a badass feels believable and satisfying, i lovelovelove her friends and mentors, her backstory is so cool?? this adds so much interesting worldbuilding into the avatar universe
very interesting seeing so much of kuruk's friends (and makes total sense given his age at death), and the villains were totally hateable without being unpleasant to read about, which is a balance authors rarely strike for me
only part I didn't like was the resolution of the final battle, it felt a bit too abrupt without enough buildup, and almost like a bit of a copout to not directly resolve kyoshi's conflict with the main villain? still an interesting choice, though

As a lifelong fan of ATLA and LOK, this book was so incredible to read. I've always loved Kyoshi, so getting to read about her life and really learn more about her is so much fun!
