Another great book by Gibson. I found it a bit slow to start but still a great book. It tells the story of a big city girl and the local single father sheriff. I enjoyed reading about the two coming together. The only thing missing was an epilogue to show us what happened next. A good read though that I will read again x

Wasn't bad, just didn't excite me. Her flaw being that she didn't have a uterus was a nice touch but I wish they did more with it as well as her friend marrying her ex-husband.

Probably my favorite from Rachel Gibson. I honestly don't know why I enjoy her books so much. I mean, yes, she's a great romance writer, she can write funny and swoony and everything. The men in her novels are usually the last type of guys I'd be into, though. A manly cowboy sheriff? Not my thing at all, but maybe it is? Perhaps I have a secret hidden inclination for these sort of guys she always creates, and I never knew about it? Is that why I basically devoured this story? Who knows...

What first caught me about True Confessions was the small town trope. I love small-town stories where everyone knows everyone, and an outsider comes to town and notices everyone's a bit wacko. I loved Gospel, Idaho, loved side characters, and enjoyed Kate and her bizarre job as well.

Stories where the men are overly masculine to the point where you question yourself about their principles are something that would usually have me a bit resilient to get into. But not with Rachel Gibson, it seems. I feel like her female characters end up convincing me into reading the books, and I never find myself too disappointed with them. I found Kate Spencer a cool city girl. Not gonna lie, knowing this was published in 2001, I imagined her in Sex and the City, Kate Hudson in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days type of way.

I'm quite happy to know there's one more book of her set in Gospel because I genuinely enjoyed the setting.

Anyway, easy, sexy, and light. I loved it.

Jedna z těch autorek, který dokáže napsat vtipnou romanci okořeňenou sexem a v češtině má zoufale málo knížek!

The story of Hope, a reporter who moves to Gospel, Idaho for some inspiration and finds love and a new life instead.

Gospel is nothing like Hope expected, from the colorful residents and the mystery surrouding her house's previous owner, to Dylan, the attractive local sheriff and single father that reminds her how long it's been since she's been without a man.

It's not long before inspiration strikes and the flirtation between her and Dylan turns into more, but both Hope and Dylan are keeping secrets that end up coming between them.
SpoilerDylan is hiding the fact that his son's mother is a famous actress, while Hope is keeping her kooky job a secret.

Unfortunately, when Dylan discovers that Hope works for a tabloid, he doesn't take it well at all and accuses her of approaching him in order to get the scoop on his son. She denies it, but he doesn't believe her, and when the truth comes out shortly afterwards, he is even more convinced that she is to blame, hurting her with his lack of trust.

Eventually he realizes that he loves her and that he has to believe her even without proof, if they want to have any hope of making it as a couple, and apologizes. I would have liked some more grovelling at this point, but Hope immediately forgives him and the two get their happily ever after
.

A light and fun story set in a strange town where the most absurd things are considered normal.

Really enjoyed this novel - With Rachel Gibson wielding the pen, how could I not?! - I loved our lead characters and their banter and the slow development of their relationships. I enjoyed the obstacles that they faced and how they overcame.

<He dropped his hands and took a step back. "Hope, you always have a choice. I'd never make you do anything you don't want to do. What's the fun in that?">>
.
.
3.5/5
