I appreciate the writing and complexity underlying this seemingly simple, but I have to admit that I was not a huge fan. I thought it was a good book, but it was a little too bittersweet for me at this moment, though I really did love the characters.

This novel is the epitome of fantasy and the proof my adoration for the genre. It’s fantastical and creative and whimsically detached from reality and oh so WONDERFUL. I loved every moment of this novel from the prose to the characters to the story itself. What a wonderful, wonderful, bittersweet piece of art!

Wasn’t grabbing my attention and I found the language to be a bit frilly.

Very beautiful and touching. Love the unique way the writer uses language! The story itself dragged a little at points for me but was very worth it. I fell in love with all of the main characters. And I just adored the autumn colored cat.

So similar to the movie, but better in many ways. If you liked the film as a kid, you'll like the book.
