Cinderella 🤝 Bridgerton
By far my favorite of the bridgerton series (of the first 4)
Sophie and Benedict have the slowest burn 🔥 but so worth it!

I am not a fan. I hate to say it, but the show is better than the books in my opinion. The characters you grow to love while watching the show are NOTHING like they are in the books. I was trying to set the books aside as their own thing and not associate it with the show, but when doing that I don’t like any of the characters.

I LOVED this book! It had me hooked immediately. Unlike the previous Bridgerton books (which I also loved), An Offer From a Gentleman felt more deep, complex and emotional which had me emotionally invested straight away, I loved Sophie’s character and her backstory broke my heart! I thought it being a Cinderella retelling would throw me off but the fact that it had its own little Bridgerton twist made it perfect. I absolutely ate up every bit of this book!

see I’m also so delulu that one singular romantic night with someone would make me believe that we’re destined to be together and I’ll always hold out a lil hope that one day we’ll fall madly in love cause they remember that moment too

I have been in love with Benedict since seeing him in the Netflix series and I went into this book excited for his story. Prior to this I vaguely remembered Julia Quinn talking about his story when I saw her in person and how it was normal during that time for a man like Benedict to proposition a girl like Sophie to be his mistress. It was common too. But even I going in I didn’t expect what I read.
The story starts with a masquerade ball. Sophie is given the chance to go, a once in a lifetime opportunity for her, in spite of her vicious stepmother treating her like garbage. There she meets Benedict and its love at first sight (without having actually seen her because she’s masked), but when she has to leave Benedict cannot get her out of his head. Years later they meet again but he doesn’t recognize her. But he knows there’s something about her that he just can’t shake. Can he reconcile himself to loving a low born girl who refuses to be his mistress or will their differences shatter their lives forever?
Book Benedict is not my favorite bridgerton. He is nowhere near the show Benedict that I fell in love with. But I did enjoy the Cinderella style of their story. Sophie continued to surprise me and she was strong despite years of abuse at the hands of her stepmother. This isn’t my favorite bridgerton story but it’s still a good one.
