dark emotional reflective slow-paced

The cover art is beautiful, unfortunately the book and the story did not hold up to the cover. Through out the book I mostly just wanted it to end. This book was so boring and confusing. But I also hate how the passing was through out the book and also the instant love. At the end of the day the character barely know each other and are only together because of the bond. Would have loved this book if it was longer, had a clearer background about the magic and the characters and also if they fell in love because of each other and not some bond. Lastly felt like this book was rushed and that we needed to slow down a bit.

An enjoyable read.
However, the use of the word “cunt” literally, especially in a smut setting, will always give me the ick.

I am unendingly in awe of Tamara Jeree’s prose. Everything they write is stunning. With elements of both the divine and the real world their magical realism/paranormal fantastical worlds are everything I want to be a part of. This one feels like a story within a story. One about self-acceptance and the divide that fractures us when we are not able to love ourselves as we are, we we reject parts of our truest self. The imagery is breath taking and Jeree reminds the reader that we always had the magic within us to begin with.

Superb, visceral writing and I enjoyed watching them both grown despite some minor personal points of contention (the story was generally more bitter than I tend to enjoy and showing up and telling anyone, let alone a practical stranger, what they're feeling and what they have to do to "fix themselves" is definitely a move).
