The Rose

4.11 AVERAGE

The Rose would have been a 5 star if it wasn't for the stupidity of the practically pointless outer plot. From the very beginning of the book, I complained about her outright refusal to get help from her parents. I just couldn't grasp why she couldn't tell them anything even after knowing the whole drama with David. I was so annoyed with her handling it on her own. And then guess what? The magical ending was to ask her parents for help. Incredible.
Aside from the fairly pointless David drama, I LOVED everything else this has to offer. Equally as good as The Red if it weren't for the dumb outer plot.

I’m pretty sure it’s impossible for Tiffany Reisz to write anything but amazing 5 star reads. I loved reading The Red last year so I was really excited to see there would be a second book and it did not disappoint. The Rose is an incredibly sexy and fun read, packed full of fantasies I never even knew I wanted, but boy did I enjoybthem! August Bowman sure does know how to show a woman a good time!

Sex aside, I really did love everything about this book. The whole Godwick family is just fantastic. I laughed out loud so many times with them, especially how inappropriate Lia’s mum and dad are around her - it sets me off in giggles just thinking about it. And I love how much they all truly love each other, no matter what. What a wonderful family!!

I loved Lia’s job - definitely not what you’d expect given her title, but that made it all the more brilliant. I thought her friends were all fabulous and I would love to see more from them in possible future books *hopes and prays* and I loved getting lost in all the tales of Greek mythology, it’s one of my favourite things. Most of all I just really really loved Lia and August. *dreamy sigh* Everything about them was delicious perfection and I couldn’t get enough.

I really hope there will be a third book to this series because I absolutely love going on these erotic adventures, and I never want to stop.

*ARC received in exchange for an honest review*

I will read anything she writes. But this dirty set of mythological retellings was particularly enjoyable.

I read this because someone in book club chat said that there was sex with liquid gold. Look, I had to know. I recently watched a webinar that talked (in part) about the difference between erotica and erotic romance. This is true erotic romance - there's lots of sex and it's not all about moving the plot, but the thread and end is all about the couple. It was entertaining and probably would have been more entertaining if I was interested in Greek mythology. And yes, she did have sex with liquid gold.

I just. *chefs kiss* Reisz does it again as she explore the world od myth and fantasy and seduction.

Lia is a recent college grad who doubles as a Madam (“the prissiness madam”) and at her grad party receives a special cup. Enter: the hot stranger who lost the cup in an auction to her dad and tries to get it back by telling over it can make any fantasy come true. Never one to back down from a challenge, Lia challenges him to show her and so their sensual adventures begin.

Along the way, a fuck boy from her past attempts to blackmail her and our hero, August, is the only one she feels safe enough to ask for help. Part of the bargain? Explain more fantasies threw the cup together.

I don't even know where to start with what I loved about this book. Reisz always writes incredible world that draw the reader in, steamy sexy ends that open your mind to something new, I'm believable conflict even if it's some thing you will never experience.

I pick this one up on a whim, trusting in her name, and I'm so glad I did. It's one of my favorite books from the year so far. I love that Lia was convinced it was a ruse until the very end. I gasped at the big reveal. I loves the family dynamics all around and the positive representation of ethical non-monogamy. And of course, I adores the sexy bits. In my opinion, no one writes them like Reisz. If you don't like detailed and explicit, skip this one.

If you're looking for a read that crosses genres, turns you on, teaches you something new, and as an utter delight to read, pick this one up. In the meantime, I'll be reading the other two books in the series.

If there is one thing I've learned from reading The Red, it's that these Godwicks are unpredictable.

This is a mythological experience.

That's it. That's my review.

Come meet Ophelia and the gang and buckle up for an experience that is completely unique to Ms. Reisz.

Received this as an ARC from Netgalley. All thoughts are my own.

I was excited when I saw the description of this. Greek mythology is my favorite and I had been wanting to read something slightly out of the norm for what I normally read. And this fit. When I got approved for it, I immediately had to read it. Unfortunately, I had to wait for what i thought would be after work. But due to the weather where I live, I got a phone call saying that I wasn't needed, to stay home, and to stay safe. So I was able to start reading this sooner than I had dared hope.

I was able to consume every second of this book in one sitting. I could not stop reading. I had grabbed myself a glass of wine before starting and the wine didn't quite make it to a quarter of the way into the book.

This was a fun, sexy way to spend an evening of putting myself into Lia's shoes as she experienced the kylix with August. I would have been just as skeptical as she was in the beginning. Maybe even try talking myself into believing that what she experienced was just a hallucination. But after a while, it does become fairly clear that this was a very real thing they were experiencing.

In the beginning, August doesn't reveal what his real name is and who his family is. However, I was able to call his identity. It felt fairly obvious from all the hints that are dropped. It still felt part of all the fun.

The formatting of my copy was off and made it a little difficult to read in places. Mostly with conversations. And almost time there was a word that started with "fl," like "flower" or "flirt," there would be a space between the f and the l. It read as "f lower" instead of "flower."That was a bit distracting. Especially at the beginning when I wasn't expecting it.

Would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a good time reading something in this genre.
