A stacking story similar to “This Is the House That Jack Built.” I really liked how each layer is added on in English at first but then gets changed to Spanish when the next layer is added on top of that. There is also piñata song at the end both in English and Spanish, as well as instructions for building a piñata of your own.

I LOVED this book - the simple building of the story that gives the English and Spanish words, the beautiful illustrations, the inclusion of the piñata song that made up a large part of my childhood - all so beautiful! It was a little long, so I'm not sure how well kiddos would manage sitting through it (maybe as a first book?) but it's a fun look at how people from different cultures celebrate birthdays.

In the style of "This is the house that Jack built," this book follows a group of animals and people as they make a pinata to celebrate a little girl's birthday.

This is a really fun, energetic story that has tons of repititon. It's great for children who already speak both English and Spanish but is also a great read for kids who only speak English-as Vamos replaces the English word on the following page with the Spanish word. The book also includes a glossary of Spanish words and directions for making your own piñata. This would be a great book to read outloud-especially for an ESL class. Perfect for an introduction to an art project or just to practice Spanish words and phrases.

Uses repetition to introduce Spanish vocabulary, and features instructions on how to construct a piñata.
