This was a really wonderful read that I picked up on a bit of a whim.

The characters are very likeable, despite their flaws and mistakes, and I fell in love with both Charlotte and Sutton pretty quickly. I was very invested in what happened to them and how their stories would turn out both together and individually which at times made it hard for me to pull myself away from the book to do other things.

I think both Charlotte and Sutton had the opportunity to grow in the ways that they needed to as individuals. Sometimes their actions and the misunderstandings between them can be really frustrating, but I was also able to grasp that they were doing the best they could based on past experience and where they were in their lives.

I think the complexity of the characters is really well done. Sutton has always been surrounded by loving family who were fiercely protective of her, but has developed a lot of insecurity from bad past bad relationships. She seems to be a naturally sensitive and emotional person which made it easy for people to take advantage of her in the past. Charlotte is an incredibly confident and competent career politician who has never seen much need for romantic attachments, but her uncomplicated life comes at more of a cost than she thinks it does.

I often thought I could predict what was going to happen in the book, but, to the author's credit, I often had my predictions cast into doubt or they would change throughout the book. There was enough doubt that I felt anxious for the characters and felt compelled to keep reading to find out for sure.

Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a wlw contemporary romance.
