Loved it in the beginning, but the plot dragged in the middle and didn't get out of it. Everything that happened was predictable and I found myself skimming the pages.
What I loved so much was the witty sarcastic way of speaking from Leo, but at some point, unfortunately it started getting on my nerves.
Also, most of the book we spend with him being a whiny rich nepo baby, which is something I have not much patience with, if it doesn't lead to the character acknowledging their privileges and doing better later. I thought this story was trying to discuss social and class disparity, but it didn't go into this direction enough and more into a teenage confusion sort of thing.
I appreciated the whimsical forest and the sorceress in the tower. But completely skipped the storyline after they left the tower, because it was super predicted either way and the writing style didn't capture me enough anymore after reading the same bickering for over 250 pages before.

Would put this at a 3.5, as the things I didn’t like were mostly personal preferences.
Overall, this was a joy to read, very lighthearted, whimsy, cozy and lovely. I vibes with the characters, and although I don’t really like first person POVs, I did appreciate how unique Leo’s was. It had character and style, so I decided to let him tell me the story.
Apparently, I’m not a fan of slowburns - haven’t tried one before, but I felt robbed of the scene where they finally let their feelings out and have at it. The curse being a part of it made things a little muddy consent-wise so I was all for waiting patiently. Only that moment never truly arrived, which is fine - it’s a personal preference and I assume it’ll come at a later book.
The book dragged on a little bit, for me. And I wanted more setting, descriptions to flesh everything out, but I think that’s trickier to do when writing in first person.
This was a fun read, though I did have a moment where I wanted to dnf. Curious to see how this continues, I’ll probably read the next one.
