And with this, I've finished The Witches series by Pratchett. The main takeaway from these books is: we all need a Granny Weatherwax in our lives.

It’s been a while since I read the first 22 books in this series, and I had completely forgotten how funny and insightful Terry Pratchett is. Ended up docking a half star for a few dated references, but I really loved this one.
Graphic: Body shaming, Fatphobia, and Blood
Moderate: Violence, Ableism, and Animal death
Minor: Child death, Body horror, and Animal cruelty

It's Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax to the rescue again. At least that's what I thought at first.
The trouble starts when Granny Weatherwax's feelings are hurt (what feelings?!?) when she thinks she hasn't been invited to a naming ceremony. She runs off like a petulant teenager and acts like she's too weak to help when the country is taken over by a family of vampyres.
I enjoyed the story because it gave me more insight into Granny Weatherwax. She isn't as tough as I thought she was. She always seemed like the kind of person to get things done because they needed to be, not because she wanted the praise.
Nanny holds the fort down pretty well for someone who is always in Granny Weatherwax's shadow. When Granny gets herself together the vampyres are, of course, in trouble.
This book gave both Granny and Nanny more depth. Plus, it's a Pratchett so you know it's hilarious.

I’m never a huge fan of the witches’ books in the Discworld series and this was no exception. I find the formula is always the same with Granny fixing things by the end. (To be fair, I have not read all of the witches’ books.) I also dislike the constant characterization of Agnes as fat as if it’s the only thing that’s important about her.
Moderate: Fatphobia
