This book is a classic for a reason.
With a timeless charm, the lives of three children are brought together through the sublime perfection of nature. The story itself is incredibly comforting, like being wrapped in blankets during a rainstorm, and then watching the sun peek through the clouds as the storm passes, until the world is bright and shining and warm again.
There is a garden by my job, and I read this every day on a bench during my lunch break. I highly recommend reading it this way, surrounded by the smells and sights and sounds of the outdoors. After closing the book each day, I would stroll around the garden and take extra time to look at the little insects, and watch the dappled light fall and dance through treetops. It felt like being a child again. Today when I finished the book, a hummingbird flitted right past me, and I smiled and thought to myself "magic is real."
And in a way, it kind of is.

This is a lovely little story that I read when I was a kid. It was nice to read again as an adult.

Wanted a Spring book to listen to on a recent adventure. When this one popped in my head it was a perfect fit.
