The plot happened for the stupidest reason. It's ridiculous, but at the same time it's extremely realistic. And I can't be mad about that. The ending was unexpected and it allowed Rose to have some character development.
I can't decide if I like Adrian or he annoys me (recurring theme in these books apparently). But I'm starting to like Rose more and more, I enjoy her inner voice, especially when she calls other people out, including herself.
I couldn't care less about her mother and all that drama. She's condemning her for not staying home and raising her, while at the same time complains that not enough women become guardians. Decide which side you're on.
"This isn't a Christmas special! This is my life. In the real world, miracles and goodness just don't happen."
REREAD
I've had so much more fun second time around. It's definitely because I already know and love all the characters, and I've grown emotionally attached to them.
That being said, this is probably worst book for Dimitri's character. The way he talks and latter does exactly opposite of what he said, and continously sends mixed signals. But I'm willing choosing to ignore all the red flags, much like Roza.
For all intents and purposes Rose and Christian practically kissed, and borderline had sex. The way she describes those scene is so funny. They're my favourite comedic duo.
One thing I noticed in the writing style is that she uses "suddenly" a lot and now I can't unsee it. But considering we're in Rose's head all the time (well, it's her voice not necessarily always in her own head) it makes sense for her to have.. somewhat limited vocabulary. I mean, who ever makes coherent, eloquent sentences in their own head?

I completely forgot how the first half of this book lulls you into thinking it'll be pretty normal with just some teenage growing pain issues...and then BAM! Hits you right in the freaking feelings. ðŸ˜
