Whew, so after Vol 4 of this series Kaneki's lucky to still be alive. I mean the Gourmet's totally insane, but at least that insanity saved our beloved Kaneki from dying.

Okay, if you hadn't already figured out from book 4, The Gourmet, Shu's lost it somewhere along the way. I think eating human's has gone to his head. . . I mean cannabalism does change people. Anyways, Shu's so consumed by the idea of devouring Kaneki that he sets a trap to bait him. Remember Nishio? The guy who tried to kill Kaneki and his friend Hide?

Yeah, so as we discovered Nishio's hiding out with his lover Kimi, who's a HUMAN. Kimi knows what Nishio is and loves him nonetheless and wants to help him. She knows his hunger's leaking into the danger zone and the person she turns to was Kaneki.

Kaneki saved Nishio in the 4th book and know he's helping Nishio out again. Shu abducted Kimi after she spoke with Kaneki to keep things quiet about the two of them. Nishio begs for Kaneki to help him, I know, the jerk actually begs for Kaneki's help? Weird, but true.

Toaka, like usual, is keeping an eye on Kaneki and follows him and Nishio to the place Shu, the Gourmet, has set up for their "lovely" dinner. As you guess Kimi isn't there for conversation and company. A quote from the book:

"I want to feed on . . . Kaneki as he . . . Feeds on HER!!"

Chills. This guy's seriously lost it. A big fight ensues and something Toaka didn't expect happens at the end.

Back to the CCG or the Dove's, Amon's hard at work drowning in the investigations. They're still focused on the Binge Eater, Rize, case. Even though we know what happened to her. Things are brewing in the wards and the CCG's wanting to get on top of things. Main goal for them is to vanquish goals and keep them under control.

Twists are beginning to happen and like most of our "heroes" they're caught in the middle. Kaneki still refuses to indulge in human flesh, relying on the special "cubes", but when will that not be enough? They also cause him to be weaker since he's not obtaining all that nutrition, if you will.

Itori provided some information for the nightmare Kaneki had to endure. Which leads to more questions we want answers for! UGH. I need the next book.

This series is highly addicting! I love the build of characters, mystery, and twists. So the main thing of this book is fighting, so there is some blood and mild gore. I mean if you've read the first four than your used to it. Language ya da ya da ya.

Even though Nishio's a jerk, you'll very much love his story and Kimi's. Powerful romance there, but no sex scenes or nudity.

Anyways, where's that cash I stashed for a rainy day?
