The title pretty much sums up a really unique and intriguing premise: historical lesbian insect witches whose powers are enhanced when they have sex! They conceive a child together, kill men and protect women and each other together, and there’s even a mysterious plot of murders going on at the same time, combined with various other animal hybrids. The first few issues of this were great; they hooked me in with their love for each other and the mystery and the villainy, but the later issues were a bit disappointing.
The mystery of the “Butcher” and the reveal of the Hag was so incredibly fast-paced and a bit confusing. People dying and hallucinations and that random panel of an orgy that surely didn’t happen were confusing and the conflict at the end was resolved far too quickly for a satisfying finale.
I’ll probably read the second volume too because I’m intrigued on what could happen; I hope it’s as good as how this volume started.
